Social Proof Principle“Where all think alike, no one thinks very much.” - Walter Lippmann

Have you ever met a guy that seems to have nothing special about him yet manages go from hot girl to hot girl? The reason behind it could have something to do with social proof.

I’m going to use some of Dr. Lee Alan Dugatkin research work to explain this,

Guppies (aka MillionsFish) are the first species in which scientists have observed the phenomenon of “mate copying”: A female guppy is much more likely to have the hots for a male guppy if other female guppies like him too.And it seems humans behave in much the same way…

Dugatkin conducted a study of 60 men and 74 women who were shown pictures of strangers and asked if they’d like to date them. Theywere also given information about whether other men and women, respectively, found the strangers attractive.

“Unsurprisingly, the male and female subjects both liked attractive people,” says Dugatkin, a professor at the University of Louisville.”But females weighed the opinions of other females much more highly than the men did”. Women also described the guys they preferred in the pictures as more wealthy, funny and personable - even though they had never met them.Dugatkin says, mate copying “could lead a female to go out with a physically unattractive male because other females said they’d go out with him.” After all, he must have something going for him. Right?

Unlike men, woman trust each other enough to base their relationship decisions on the actions of their peers, the study shows:

“Using other females’ information is an expression of women being choosy,” Dugatkin says. “From an evolutionary perspective, females should be the choosier sex; they have more to lose. If a female makes a mistake and chooses the wrong mate, she’ll be out of commission for nine months. And if one parent leaves, it’s almost
always the male.”

I just posted a few cuts of the study, you can find the whole thing in his book but it basically suggests: When humans see their peers flock around someone, it raises their curiosity and makes them wonder what the fuss is all about.

How Social Proof Affects The Dating Scene

Now before you start saying I’m comparing womens intelligence to fish…I’m not, this psychological principal has been used for many years amongst humans, take for instant the annoying canned laughs you see on tv comedy shows, they are used to help you know what parts of the show are suppose to be funny.Another form of this principle can be seen used by marketers when they promote their product as “NUMBER 1# SOLD Hemorrhoids Cream In America!” or those payed actors that tell you it’s such a great product…They are all ways of making you think “Oh if all these people like it…it must be good!”.

Does social proof really work in the dating scene?, Yes, for example: If a woman hasn’t got time to get to know a guy well to give him her number cause shes at a party or something, she will base her decision by observing the action of other females in the past, asking other women for their opinion or by looking at other females reactions (staring or smiling at the guy).

It can also come into effect online when a girl browses your profile and notices you have some interesting friends on your list or have good positive comments about your profile, pictures or have a picture with an attractive girl.

If this technique is true, you would only have to seduce one hot girl into dating you and brag her around your friends, clubs/bars and your set for life…theoretically speaking it would cause a chain of hot girls to date you one after the other, since they would see the previous girl was at the same “level” of beauty as they are and we all want to think little and guide our decisions by the actions of similar peers. I’ll leave you the adventure of finding out if it works.

My name is Matthew and I will be your blogger for this evening...I created this site for mere amusement really but it's evolving into a lot more, unlike many books and websites I won't tell you to go do this or that to pick up women, I will however explain what they like or are attracted too and more importantly why they are, helping you understand them better and use that knowledge to appear more engaging.I aspire not only to teach you some valuable information but to provide a humorous angle on it as well, consider my articles as "mocumentaries" that actually work in real life.If you want to know more visit the About page.
