The rule behind scarcity is technique used in many different areas, it states that opportunities seem more vulnerable to us when their availability is limited.Have you ever asked yourself why they keep using the: “This is a once in a life time opportunity!” or “This Offer is for a limited time only!” in newspapers, magazine or tv ads? It isn’t because they have a limited stock or are in a good mood that month and decide to reduce prices…it creates the idea in your head that if you don’t purchase what their offering now, you will never be able to get such product at that “bargain” of a price, creating pressure.You worry and get anxious then start questioning yourself “but what if what their saying is an honest deal?”, finally you start finding excuses for purchasing the product to reassure yourself your doing the right thing…at the end you have become your own salesman and all that just because someone put you under strong pressure to speak now or forever hold your peace (I now pronounce you..).
How Scarcity Affects The Dating Scene
A technique used by players is a combination of the social proof principle with this one, once you have found a beautiful girl to date and created yourself a status amongst the crowds, it’s only a matter of time before women start asking themselves “Why is that attractive girl dating that guy?, I wonder what he offers…”, once this happens you know your in. Eventually if things don’t work out with that beautiful girl you will be available once more but this time you already have proof your worth dating, at this point it’s a matter of playing hard to get and letting the scarcity principle take control, “that guy that was dating the hot chick is single again, better attract his attention before that whore sitting next to him makes a move”, this technique can work with two to two dozen women but I’ve noticed it works a lot better with just two (it’s not like your going to be able to get anymore anyway lol) since its more of a direct rivalry between each other.
